On Monday night we had our first experience taking a child to get stitches. It wasn't the child you expect - it was our most cautious kid, Taylor.
We were out on Family Night delivering some fliers to neighbors and Taylor tripped on some steps and hit his head on a brick (splitting it open). Nobody was home at the house, so Josh picked up Taylor and came running across the street to our friends' house where I happened to be delivering a flier. He asked if he could rush Taylor in to look at the cut. Everyone panicked when they saw all the blood. We have never seen so much blood in our family before, and I'm sure we traumatized our friends' kids.
Anyway, we left Carter, Mallory, and Wyatt with our friends and rushed Taylor to go get stitches. He was terrified when he heard the word "stitches", but he was so brave and afterward he said it wasn't as bad as he thought. Taylor was so good at holding still for the doctor and nurse that they didn't even need to tie him down like they would a normal 5 yr. old.
Here are some pictures of Taylor with his stitches. I thought that he had 6 stitches, but looking closer, I think it is 5.

What an adventure that it. It seems the head injuries bleed so much more than others. Bryce cut his head open when he was one. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!
That almost matches my scar I got from stitches when I was his age... Another reason to be the favorite aunt!
Ouch
