The Yurt

Hey - I thought I'd post some pictures of the yurt we stayed in at Harriman State Park (up by Yellowstone). Everyone we talk to asks us what a yurt is, so if you asked that same question, you are about to be enlightened. :)

Here's the outside of the yurt. It is basically a wood frame with a canvas cover. There was an outhouse close-by (didn't take a picture for obvious reasons).

This little wood-burning stove kept us toasty warm through the night. We were skeptical at first, but it really worked well.
The sky-roof could be raised and lowered with the crank.

There was another futon/bunk bed besides this one on the other side of the yurt. The yurt sleeps 6.
This little Coleman stove was provided in the yurt. We had to bring our own propane.
Anyway, the whole experience was lots of fun. We'd highly recommend it for anyone who doesn't have a little toddler who might touch the wood-burning stove. We won't be able to go for the next couple of years because we'd have a heart-attack worrying about Wyatt touching it.

Looks like fun. We'll have to try it out someday.

I really liked that! That looks like so much fun. I think we'll have to stay away too for at least another year. Wood burning stove not fun!
